I am delighted again to be up for this prestigious award that I continue to enter each year and this year is no different - If you have used my services in the past or if you have booked Gary Kavanagh Photography you are able to vote for me to win this award. I am asking you please to simply - comment below with the words Voted & Shared and make sure you like Gary Kavanagh Photography on Facebook and for doing all of this I am giving something back in return - If you do like and share this post and get involved you could be in with a chance of winning a €50 One For All Voucher which will allow you to treat yourself to something nice for Christmas.
Anyone who does comment on this post below will go into the draw for this voucher. This award is an independently run award ceremony which is different from any other awards that you may see running at the moment - it is a self nomination award which each year I like to enter myself into and it is nerve wrecking being the only person in the overall competition but it is wide open to anyone but being run by me it usually is only myself who is entered into this draw. The judges are a panel of industry professionals who find it difficult in choosing the over all winner but my parents usually do their best in selecting someone who has talent and again I leave it up to them. I would like to thank everyone who takes the time to read this post and again for following the steps above your name will be entered into the draw and you will find out who the winner is on Dec 13th 2018 via Facebook and you will also receive a PM asking you for your address. LIKE Gary Kavanagh Photography on Facebook by Clicking here and then just comment with VOTED under the picture below. *Award Ceremony above does not exist and is only a parody but the prize is real so please do get involved.
When you think of Sister Act you immediately think of Whoopi Goldberg in the hilariously classic comedy, which sees a lounge singer who is mixed up with the wrong crowd hiding out with a bunch of nuns who have never sung a note in tune until she turns everything around. Well on 12th April 2018 Carol Knox rose to the challenge of playing this iconic role and she delivered an incredible performance that had a standing ovation every single night. Along with her sisterhood of nuns and some toe tapping songs the show was one of the best I have seen in Kilkenny and everyone who attended the show said the same. Thankfully I saw the show more then once and each night I was equally treated to outstanding performances night after night. Sarah Brennan played Mother Superior who along with Carol were outstanding in their roles. The Nuns were the highlight of the show and each had their own development of character and seeing each and everyone play and enjoy their role was beautiful to watch. Amy Mulholland who played Sister Mary Robert hit some high notes with ease in the famous song "The Life I Never Led" and truly was made for the role. The comedy aspect within the show with Trevor O'Neill wearing more fake tan then you would see on a night out playing the hilarious Pablo added to the show and was great to see, along with the rest of the male cast. I was delighted to capture each and every moment of their performances and the full gallery can be seen by clicking the link below.
Photographs are available to purchase in high resolution and watermark free, you simply can click "Prints" to order any while viewing the gallery and they start from €0.50 and delivered straight to your door. Thank you for such a fantastic show and I do hope you enjoy reliving each moment, Best wishes, Gary. Its that time of year again "Oh No Its Not" I hear you all say..."Oh Yes It Is!!!" Kilkenny's Annual Pantomime this year is Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs written by the very talented Joe Murray and Directed by Olivia Smith, Choreography by Marie Cashin and Musical Director Ollie Hennessy. Im sure you all know the fairy tail by now but their is an Evil Queen, Handsome Prince, Beautiful Leading Lady and Seven Dwarfs along with a Magic Mirror that can tell you at any time throughout the show how beautiful you are...Ive yet to try it but trust me I know what it will say.
This year the Dame played by the hilarious Derek Dooley really entertained the audience with his jokes and his one liners and really had the audience in stitches. His two sons played by the fantastic Sarah Brennan and Claire Henriques really are Panto favourites at this stage and again this year was no different with their rivalry and jealousy throughout the show. The Seven Dwarfs with many being allot taller then me got all the children up off their seats and had them clapping along to "Hi Ho its off to work we go" with all the kids joining in and again a magic moment within the show. The Evil Queen played by the talented Laura Mc Carthy seriously was wicked! and The Crone Paula Drohan, we all know what happens - Yes she comes out for her Bow and well deserved applause at the end so don't worry. The show is sold out for the week and rightly so - next time make sure you book early as these Pantomimes sell out months in advance, "Oh no they don't - Oh yes they do!!!" Sorry I'm still in Panto mode Ill stop now - "Oh no I won't - Oh Yes I will..." Snow White & The Handsom Prince played by the stunning Gemma Grant & Aidan Byrne had fantastic chemistry as the leading stars along with some fabulous songs both sung in harmony and were beautiful to watch on stage, and although Snow White falls into a deep deep sleep don't worry a kiss from Aidan brings her back to life before the audience are on their merry way and Gabby closes the door for another night also Im not forgetting Gemma's brother played by Alan Grant aka The Mirror was excellent. Congratulations to every member of the team who has outdone themselves again from the amazing show including The Ensemble - The costume designers - backstage staff - props - front of house - and every person involved within the show and performance. Below is a link to The Pantomime 2018 Album and if you would like to purchase any prints in A4 size these can be bought for €8 per photo print - below each image you will see a number - just note these numbers and then simply fill out the form below and I will be in touch. Best wishes, Gary Kavanagh Photography.
The 3rd Annual Variety Concert took place on Thursday 2nd Nov 2017. With some fantastic local talent entertaining the audience with Bold as Brass opening the show and some of Kilkenny's finest singers including Michael Hayes - Emma McGuinness - Elen Stapleton - Nicola Brennan - Declan Taylor and Emmet Donlan. Eamo's All Stars lead by the fantastic Eamon Cahill had the audience clapping in their seats from the local students who he teaches. Emmet Donlan's section included the gorgeous song "Bring Him Home" from Les Miserables and finished with "If I loved you" from the musical Carousel.
Kilkenny School Of Dance under the direction of Finn Power and Gemma Grant transported you to the streets of Paris through contemporary dance and lyrical ballet and the students are highly skilled in all areas of dance and this was clearly shown on stage on the night. The show also had a fantastic local comedian Michael Rice who's Mum was in the audience and that didn't even stop his risky jokes from getting the laughs throughout his performance. John Treacy who is a singer songwriter performed his debut single on the night and ended with "Gloria" from Van Morrison but I think Johns version could be a hit if he released it on his next album. Finishing the show was "Fly The Flag Of Freedom" directed by Declan Taylor and contained some gorgeous duets - solos and group numbers which received great praise from the audience on leaving the auditorium. Wishing Siobhan Cody the very best for the next Annual Variety show. I am over joyed to be nominated for this award and I would really love your help and vote please, all it takes is a simple "Like & Share" which can be found at the bottom of this post - each year 100's of companies and suppliers are nominated for awards within the Wedding industry - the companies who put themselves forward are paying members of websites who take out an active subscription to the company who in turn advertise their services. To be nominated or to self nominate usually a fee is involved - and then it is down to you to promote yourself as much as you can by paying for sponsored posts - asking all your family and friends to vote for you etc...So I am "Self Nominating" myself for this award which will be given to me from my parents for the outstanding service I provide within the Wedding industry. The mantle piece at the moment is filled with just empty vases - a Waterford Crystal Clock and a Wooden calendar - imagine the delight if I received enough votes and I could bring home the little Trophy and place this on the mantle piece - not only would I be over joyed but my parents would be thrilled to have a little Trophy with my name on it. To be in with a chance of winning this prestigious award I need over 25 likes on this post - 25 shares on this post - and finally then it is down to the judges (my parents) to count the amount of likes I am after receiving on this post - If you have read this far please please please vote for me and just click the "Like & Share" - The award winners will be announced soon so I really hope with your support and vote I could actually do this - thank you all so much in advance - best wishes, Gary Kavanagh Photography.
Áine and Patrick who were recently married in the fabulous Butler House which is located in the heart of Kilkenny City.
Having met Áine a couple of months before the wedding I knew the day would be perfect, as not only was she relaxed but she had everything organised and the day ran like clockwork. The ceremony was filled with lots of emotion and laughter, and a few tears in between the beautiful poems and music. After the ceremony we took pictures in the beautiful gardens of Butler House and also throughout Kilkenny City. The reception followed in Langton House Hotel where guests were treated to a Pig on a Spit. I would like to thank Áine and Patrick for a fantastic day and wishing you all the best in the future. The church was simply stunning with birdcages and candles and no detail was left unturned. Danielle could not of been an easier bride to photograph and from the morning of the Wedding right up until I said my good bye herself and Anthony were just so calm it really made my job that bit easier. The children on the day were just such fun with Danielle's daughter munching away on her toast and being as happy, and as you can also see from the pictures it was someones "First Kiss" at least he will be able to look back on it in years to come. It is not often you get to meet such a beautiful couple and their family - Jessica & Joseph could not be a nicer couple, from the moment I met them and capturing their special day was an honour. With temperatures reaching 23°c - Costa Del Sol had nothing on Carlow and the happy couple could not of wished for a better day. The pictures were taken in The Sensory Gardens in Co Carlow and if you have not been please go, it really is a stunning location. The Hotel Reception was in The Talbot and from the gorgeous food to the 24/7 sweet cart not only did the kids enjoy it but I think my dentist will be one happy man in the next couple of weeks. It really was the most beautiful day and I think you will agree Jessica looked stunning on her special day, and although sadly missed, her Dad was definitely there guiding and protecting her and he to shared in the celebration of Jessica and Joseph's special day.
